abstract = "The papper analyzed 17 rural properties in the Amazon Portal
territory on quantifying the total of permanent preservation areas
(APP) and legal reserves (RL) in 2011 compared to the year 2014,
assessing their changes through High resolution satellite images.
These small family farms were conducted in organic production
system (SPO) or conventional (SPC), certified since 2004 by a
certifying company registered in the Ministry of Agriculture,
Livestock and Supply (MAPA). They compared the results with what
is required for the Amazon biome by the new Brazilian Forest Code
(CFB) - Federal Law 12.651/2012. The effects of the new BFC were
assessed for adequacy of family production units. Most of the
properties evaluated did not present the minimum required in any
of the years studied, both in the areas of RL and APP (water
source springs and margin streams). The farms on SPO showed better
results on 2011 to 2014 year evaluation, compared to SPC. As for
the maintenance of native vegetation in the SPC, RL has presented
higher percentages of forest regeneration. Considering
consolidation of deforested areas before 22/07/2008, under the new
CFB, all seventeen properties remedied its environmental
liabilities from the perspective of current Brazilian law to RL.
In the case of APP from small family farms, all nine (9/9)
remedied its environmental liabilities, while in this SPC occurred
in four (4/7).",
